Iconic Scandinavian Maria folding dining table designed by Bruno Mathsson in 1936
Very influential Swedish designer Bruno Mathsson designed this famous table in 1936 for Karl Mathsson.
The table is created to be versatile, adjustable and long-lasting piece of furniture. It can be effortlessly and quickly transformed from a very small and compact, space saving size to a table for two or for a small family, and finally, when fully extended, to a real banquet size dining table.
It became very popular and it was in production during the 2nd half of the 20th century.
The piece offered here for sale is a genuine vintage piece. The original manufacturer's stamp is missing and because of that it is sold as 'in style' of Bruno Mathsson.
The lacquered solid wood table top has stunning rosewood open pore veneer rich in colors and with beautiful wood grain. The construction of the frame and attention to details are as well of the highest quality.
Overall condition of the table is very good. The structure has no defects, the table top is not bent nor distorted in any way, the finish to the wood is very well preserved. In the detailed photo and in the video you can see some superficial scratch marks on one end of the table. The scratch marks are visible only from a close distance and they cover a small portion of the surface, close to the edge of one corner of the table. The rest of the table is in absolutely beautiful original state, which is rare to find.
