Louis XVI Style Armchair, Decapé wood and astrakhan leather, Provençal, 19th century. XVIII - France
Splendid Louis XVI armchair in stripped wood and upholstered with astrakhan leather. It presents a fabulous carving based on infinite chains, which runs through its entire structure, thus emphasizing its elegant shapes. However, what draws the most attention are the two large bows present on the crest and the skirt; as well as the straight legs in the purest Louis XVI style. These legs imitate the columns of classical architecture thanks to the grooves, they also have a square pillar at the top that connects it to the structure of the chair. The astrakhan leather, for its part, adds a sumptuous touch to the chair thanks to the highly shiny pile. This skin comes from a suckling lamb of the Karakul breed, native to the Russian city of Astrakhan located on the banks of the Volga River.
Provençal furniture is always handmade, a simplified result of the Louis XV and XVI styles. The Provence style, which has its origins in the Provence region of southeastern France, is characterized by its rustic and romantic appearance. It is inspired by the natural beauty of its place of origin, rural spaces, full of vineyards, flowering fields... The favorite material is wood, helping to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, usually with a worn appearance. The decoration par excellence is floral, and that is why this piece manages to bring together the most characteristic elements.

Sessel im Louis XVI-Stil, Decapé-Holz und Astrakhan-Leder, provenzalisch, 19. XVIII - Frankreich
