An expression of artistry and a symbol of comfort
„Model 91”became the business card of Danish designer and manufacturer, Svend Skipper. The design was commissioned in 1956 and particular piece was manufactured by Skipper Møbelfabrik in the 1960s.
It is the most recognizable model from Skipper’s collections and at the same time an excellent example of the mid-century design era.
This inviting seat option is full of exquisite detailing that make it truly effective in any decor scheme.
An eye-catching light alpaca upholstery from premium wool makes the chair unique and at the same time make it unimaginably pleasant to the touch.
High backrest and the loose cushion on the seat ensure high seating comfort.
It was no coincidence that Skipper enriched the back of the chair with quilted elements arranged in a straight line, giving it elegance. The history of quilting fabrics goes back to the 18th century. The technique was the invention of the then Count of Chesterfield, who wanted a piece of furniture adequate to its status - the piece of furniture should look dignified and provide comfort, and the fabric should not wrinkle - this is "Model 91", a minimalist and timeless interpretation of Skipper.
The wooden elements are made of teak wood, from which the characteristic structural elements of this model have been masterfully carved, namely the conical ends of the upholstered armrests and the slender legs giving lightness.
The streamlined shape emphasized by high-quality French alpaca fabric combined with soaring teak finishes give dynamism and create a sculptural silhouette that popularized this model in its time.
For its resemblance to Hans J. Wegner’s „Papa Bear” the chair is so called.
“Model 91” was only made on order.
