Victoria & Albert

The Victoria & Albert Museum is completely abuzz at the moment with the London Design Festival kicking off this weekend. They have some pretty amazing exhibits on display, as well as some great installation works.

The Wind Portal by Lebanese designer Najla El Zein consists of an enormous 5,000 paper windmills. The sensation of passing through this grand doorway constructed from thousands of windmills that gently spin in the breeze is definitely something different.

Julia Lohmann created Oki Naganode during her current V&A residency "The Department of Seaweed." The installation is made form Naga Kombu, a type of Japanese seaweed, that's been stretched and fused into place over a cane frame.

The Dinner Party / True-To-Life by Scholten & Baijings is a wonderful dinner party table frozen in time. With chairs askew, napkins draped, cakes sliced, and glasses half-empty, or half-full, the room feels as though all the party guest have just now upped and left the room, perhaps popping out onto the balcony for a gander, or just into another room.
