San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

About this Museum

Founded in 1935, SFMOMA was the first museum on the U.S. West Coast devoted to modern and contemporary art. Since its inception, the museum has forged a reputation for presenting challenging and thought-provoking artists. The Architecture and Design Department, which was formed in 1983, is likewise known for emphasizing the most experimental design approaches.

Highlights from the SFMOMA collection include the conference room from Charles and Ray Eames’s studio, drawings and models by architect Lebbeus Woods, and furniture by visionary designers such as Shiro Kuramata, Tom Dixon and Ron Arad.
